Cedar Island is located at the end of Highway 12 which begins and branches off of Highway 70 East at Sea Level. Cedar Island has lodging facilities and a restaurant which serves excellent seafood. Cedar Island has a campground and facilities for horseback riding along the shore. There are many wonderful scenic opportunities including horses and wildlife at the water's edge, a pristine beach, and a wildlife refuge. There are two boat ramps for boating enthusiasts. Many residents still make a living from the surrounding waters. The Cedar Island Ferry connects to Ocracoke Island.
